Have a break!

It is so weird, writing this sometimes, knowing that anyone can read it. Anyway, it’s your choice! So hi, if you are. Hello, welcome. If you’re not, well, that’s ok, this is only one woman’s writings on various things. If you’re going to read anything, read the bible I would say. But again, hello if you’re actually venturing onwards.

So, what to write about today? Church? God? Family? Home? Things…? Feelings? Truth? Lies?? Good? Bad? Evil? To be honest, at this point in time, it’s ten past nine in the evening, I’m sat in our living room at the table typing (obviously), Chris has just gone for his bath, I still need to do his pack up for tomorrow and I have a tired brain, so probably not much.

We went out as a family on Sunday, it was wonderful. We went up to Bundoran in Donegal and went on the beach with the kids. It was windy and cold and in turn sunny and then cloudy and it hailed a few times, but it was awesome. I love beaches and the sea so much. It was a place called Tullen Strand, apparently it’s a popular surfer beach, there wasn’t anyone there on Sunday, but the waves were big and powerful and splashing high up the rocks. Don’t you just feel you can just stand there on a beach with your head held high and take a huge breath in, smell the sea air and also just breath in God’s presence, He is so mighty. Look up, breath in, look around, look out onto the hugeness and splendour of the world He created. I used to feel the same at a couple of places in Derbyshire where we used to live, only that was at an edge, not a beach, called Curbar Edge. There are some places that just feel special.

The beach was almost empty too, only a couple of fishermen went walking past and a couple of dog walkers. The kids loved it, jumping and sliding off the sand dunes, picking up shells, running, walking, looking. It was special just to be there. It was also so special just to watch them. It’s good to take a break. Jesus did. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think we forget that sometimes, it’s ok and good to rest and to have fun! With fun, I mean good, childlike fun, just enjoying being who you are, where you are, who you’re with, doing whatever it is you’re doing, knowing that you’re surrounded by God, that you can twirl and dance or whatever you like and just ‘be’ you in God’s love and be secure that you are you, made by Him, for purpose and also because of love. He didn’t have to make you, but He did.

Yes!

A Jesus follower who with her family are attempting (probably comically) to start a different type of life in a totally different place, but starting where we are and rolling with it and seeking God all the way, well trying to... #theshepherdsadventure
